Tour of CONAIR
Join us for a Tour of the CONAIR Site at 1510 Tower St Abbotsford, BC. This event will take place March 14 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This tour will showcase the technology and supply chain processes that CONAIR uses.
We will be walking through our three maintenance hangars and our RJ85 full flight simulator building. We also have a separate mission training system (MTS) with flight simulators of our other aircraft types that hopefully we will all be able to walk through as well, depending on the pilot training going on. Helping me with the tour will be Tania Buss (Purchasing Manager) and Gerardo Jarillo (Supply Chain Director) as well as a couple maintenance folks to answer questions about the planes. When it comes to supply chain we are in a fairly unique environment and we have many projects and activities on the go. We design, manufacture, and install everything that is necessary to turn an aircraft into an airtanker. From September to April the majority of our fleet is going through heavy maintenance, and beginning in April we start our North American fire season. Our aircraft are deployed throughout Alaska, Yukon, BC, Alberta, and Washington. They are crewed by our pilots and maintenance people and we send a spare parts kit with each group. We actually operate year round right now as we have our airtankers in Australia.

Contract Management and Supplier Performance
SCMABC is offering an interactive workshop for private or public sector staff involved in sourcing, procurement, or contracting, which will be held virtually at 9:00 a.m. (Pacific Time) on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Many people have misunderstandings about competitive bid laws and practices. Which strategy will be most effective? Which are the best and leading practices? How can my organization increase value and reduce costs?
The workshop is aimed at people with less business and supply chain experience to increase their awareness on how to navigate the rules and regulations. It is a pragmatic focus based on experience with hundreds of participants.
The workshop will use a variety of scenarios to take participants through actual situations to reiterate the key lessons learned and help them apply this to their workplace. Recommended solutions will be shared in each scenario debriefing.
Facilitator: Larry Berglund, SCMP, MBA, FSCMA
Costs per Participant: $495 for members and $595 for non-members

Resiliency Through Intelligent Visibility Webinar with Paul Anderson
The global pandemic, war in Ukraine, economic uncertainty and natural disasters have caused supply chain shortages and delays for everyone. But nowhere are such supply chain challenges more impactful than on military operations. These past few years have clearly taught us that supply chains need to be much more resilient. However, increased “redundancy” and “just-in-case” stockpiles are not the best options for creating more resiliency.
Accenture’s new series entitled “Building Intelligent & Resilient Defence Supply Chains” provides insights on transforming the way military forces are developed, deployed and sustained on operations. In general, a large degree of the inefficiency in modern military supply chains results from a lack of integration, optimization, and specific engineering of discrete processes at the expense of efficiency, visibility, speed, and resiliency.
SPEAKER BIO:
Paul is currently employed as a Senior Manager with Accenture Canada’s Supply Chain & Operations (SC&O) consulting practice, specializing in Operations and Process Transformation, and is based out of the Toronto office. He is a former Canadian Army senior Logistics Officer (Lieutenant Colonel) with 23+ years of experience leading multi disciplinary teams, working collaboratively with public service partners, key stakeholders, and clients.
He is a resourceful leader with an established record of success in complex and demanding leadership roles in integrated logistics & supply chain management, operational planning, project management, risk management, contracting and procurement, labour relations and training development.
